“I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils”.
After seeing the golden fields of daffodils last year in Spalding (Taylors Bulbs), we decided to take our inspiration to Stanfree Park. OK, this is no mass planting, but in January of this year, we planted 6KG of bulbs (a few hundred) in the meadow area of the park.
This week, we have been delighted to see the first flowers emerge. The success rate looks excellent, with most plants starting to appear. We purchased the bulbs from Dobbies, our local plant outlet and we shall be buying more at the end of the year. Trowels at the ready!
So, if you visit the park today, be sure of a golden surprise.
Lots of Love from SVPG
