Mature Trees and Hedgerows threatened by land developments:
We have seen significant loss (1000’s of metres) of hedgerows in our Valley as a consequence of building and development in last few years.
These are not being replaced by developers who have an obligation to do so, nor do they have a robust Habitat Management Plan once they wreck our countryside
We have seen significant slaughter of mature trees in our Valley.
Our hedgerows and mature trees are important in protecting the land from Flooding, Soil erosion and are fundamentally (and so incredibly overlooked) the lungs of our community.
They provide habitats and breeding grounds for mammals and birds and are significant monuments in our countryside, giving it shape, form and beauty.
One of the prime objectives in the plan should be to protect and preserve those important things that we all take for granted.
